New procedures announced for recycling toner cartridges

Here is the new procedure for recycling all laser-based printer, multifunctional device and copier cartridges at UST:

  1. Every new box of toner for laser printers and MFDs will have either a prepaid UPS, black-and-white bar-coded return label in it, or a colored sticky-back label. If both labels are inside, use the UPS prepaid and bar-coded label for the box you use to return the old cartridge. HP printer and MFD toner cartridges that are in HP boxes likely will have a UPS prepaid black-and-white label. Cartridges for HP printers that are in Marco boxes probably will include sticky-back labels printed on colored stock for easy identification.
  2. UPS-labeled boxes that contain your used or spent cartridges can be placed with your outgoing intercampus mail and they will be sent back to the manufacturer for appropriate refilling or recycling.
  3. Boxes that have colored sticky-back labels affixed to them and contain used or spent cartridges will be routed from your department to either the Minneapolis Service Center Mail #TMH LL02, or St. Paul campus Mail Services, Room 12, Murray-Herrick Campus Center, Mail #7999. From there, Marco will pick up the used cartridges and return or recycle those that meet specifications.
  4. As before, order MFD supplies online using UST's Request For Services. Log-on, choose "Service Center" under the "Main Menu" and then choose "MFD/Copier Supplies."
