Nominate a commuter student for Gregory Marzolf Jr. Award
The Gregory Marzolf Jr. Commuter Award is given to the University of St. Thomas commuter student who, through dedication and disciplined application, has exercised talents and abilities in an extraordinary manner.
Through the exercising of these talents and abilities, the commuter student has overcome significant obstacles to achieve excellence in academics, co-curricular activities and community pursuits. Note: A commuter student is defined as a student who does not live in university housing.
Gregory Marzolf Jr. was a student at the University of St. Thomas from fall 1998-fall 1999. He had muscular dystrophy, a disease that causes progressive muscle weakness until the muscles are gradually lost. He was a person who overcame obstacles and made significant contributions to the St. Thomas community, most notably as a summer orientation leader and a mentor to everyone in the Commuter Center.
Though he died in April 2000, Marzolf's legacy of service to the St. Thomas community remains. The Greg Marzolf Jr. Foundation now works on the largest fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Minnesota and holds a benefit walk on the St. Thomas campus each summer.
Pick up a nomination form in the Commuter Center, lower level, Murray-Herrick Campus Center. The deadline for submitting nomination forms is Friday, March 16.
