The Center for Intercultural Learning and Community Engagement (CILCE) and the Office for Service-Learning will honor two outstanding students, a faculty member and a community partner as part of its annual Community Engagement Celebration on Wednesday, May 5. Nominations by students, faculty and staff, as well as self-nominations, for these awards, are invited
The celebration will honor one graduate student who demonstrates an outstanding commitment to serving the community through his or her own initiative or demonstrates exemplary service as part of a course. The celebration also will recognize one undergraduate student who demonstrates exemplary service as part of a course with a designated service-learning component during the current academic year. These two students will each receive an award of $250.
One full- or part-time faculty member who has successfully integrated service-learning in a course, engages the profession about service-learning and promotes service-learning at St. Thomas will receive a $1,000 award.
In addition, one community organization (not an individual) that serves as a key co-educator in providing opportunities for students, provides strong staff support and demonstrates collaborative and reciprocal learning will receive a $1,000 community partner award at the celebration.
To nominate a student, faculty member or community partner, submit a nomination form and letter of recommendation by 5 p.m. Friday, April 23. For more information contact CILCE director Meghan Allen Eliason, (651-962-6805), or Service-Learning program manager Barb Baker, (651) 962-5380.
