Permits required in all St. Paul campus parking lots first day of spring semester, Jan. 30

Parking permits are required in all UST lots the first day of spring semester, Monday, Jan. 30.   Spring-semester permits are on sale today, Jan. 23, at the Public Safety and Parking Services office, which is open 24 hours a day in Morrison Hall.

Short-term, 15-minute parking spaces are located on the east side of Morrison Hall for those stopping in to purchase permits.   Hourly parking also is available in the Morrison Hall ramp for $1.50 per hour before 4 p.m. or $1 per hour after 4 p.m.   Vehicles parked in surface lots without valid permits will be ticketed and all other parking regulations will be enforced.

St. Paul campus commuter parking permits are $115 for semester permits and $60 for semester evening permits (valid only from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.).   Employees may purchase permits through payroll deduction but should be aware that the permits then are nonrefundable.

Metropasses (bus passes) available
For those who are tired of commuting and paying high gas prices, consider taking Metro Transit buses.   Metro Transit’s Metropass program is available to students registered for 12 or more credits (no exceptions) for $150 per semester and to employees for $180 per year.   The Metropass allows unlimited rides on all Metro Transit bus and light rail lines.

Resident student parking permits
A very limited number of resident student parking permits will be available on a lottery basis for sophomores, juniors and seniors who wish to purchase them. All fall lottery applications will be submitted automatically in the spring lottery.   Any new applications should be submitted by Monday, Jan. 30.   Lottery winners will be notified via e-mail by Friday, Feb. 3.   Resident students also are eligible to purchase a Metropass (see above for details).
