Please remember in your prayers Dr. Larzette Hale, who died Feb. 5 in Vancouver, Washington. Hale taught at the University of St. Thomas as a visiting professor in accounting for two summer sessions in the master’s program.
She was the first African-American woman CPA to earn a Ph.D. in accounting in the United States. During her career she was the first black woman to teach at Utah State University and was the head of the School of Accountancy for 13 years. She also had a chair named after her while at USU. After leaving USU, she taught at Brigham Young University, and then became the acting dean at Langston University in Oklahoma.
Her funeral was held Feb. 4 in Dallas, Texas.
