Literary Club hosts free poetry slam Friday

The UST Literary Club will host a poetry slam Friday, Nov. 20, at Scooter’s.

The event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to perform or to simply enjoy the readings. Performers are invited to read their own poetry or a favorite piece.

There are three rounds during the poetry slam, so performers must prepare three different poems – one for each round. A prize will be awarded for the winning performance.

Admission to the poetry slam is free; however, the Literary Club will accept donations for its current project, the creation of a new stained-glass window for the O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center honoring African-American writer Zora Neale Hurston.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase at Scooter’s.
