President Julie Sullivan spoke about her vision of “excellence” at St. Thomas during her inauguration and academic convocation speeches this fall, and now she wants to hear from faculty, staff and students.
What do you believe needs to be done to cultivate, foster and enhance excellence at the university? How can we help St. Thomas remove the bushel basket now halfway around our light, as Sullivan described at the end of her inauguration address, and let the light “shine more broadly into the world”?
Sullivan asks you to join her for a brown bag luncheon at noon Monday, Nov. 4, in Woulfe Alumni Hall for a discussion about excellence. The discussion will be live streamed to 201-202 Opus Hall on the Minneapolis campus. Bring your own lunch; beverages and cookies will be provided at both locations, and there is no need to RSVP.
Sullivan plans to appoint a strategic planning steering committee before the holidays. Information from gatherings such as her monthly brown bag luncheons will help the committee define a strategic planning process and agenda.
This is the third brown bag luncheon sponsored by the president. The September luncheon focused on results from the planning and climate surveys conducted earlier this year, and the October luncheon involved a discussion about online learning at St. Thomas. The previously scheduled Nov. 4 luncheon on St. Thomas’ working relationship with the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis will be held at a later date.
