Sister Mary Christine Athans, B.V.M., Ph.D., professor emerita, the Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity, had a chapter,  “Father Charles E. Coughlin: ‘The Radio Priest,’” published in Reclaiming Catholicism: Treasures Old and New (New York: Orbis Press, 2010). The book explores perspectives, personalities and practices of the pre-Vatican II church by theologians and historians. On March 16, she delivered one of the lectures in the Cardinal Cody Colloquium on The Jewishness of Jesus and the Jewish-Christian Dialogue at Loyola University, Chicago. Her lecture was titled “Courtesy, Confrontation, Cooperation: Jewish-Christian Relations in the United States.”

Teron Buford and Heath May, seniors, Shelby Rubbelke, graduate student, and Tori Svoboda, Dean of Students Office,  participated in the Region IV and V National Orientation Directors Association conference Feb. 19-21 in Overland Park, Kan. All four were accepted to present workshops on topics that included sexual assault prevention, bystander intervention training, serving diverse students and working as social justice allies. May was a co-recipient of the “Best Communication Skills” award in the undergraduate case study competition.

Dr. Elizabeth Lev, Catholic Studies Pro­gram in Rome, is the author of an article, "Reflecting on Liberty," published in the national Knights of Columbus magazine, Columbia. Her article speaks of the relationship between the United States and the Vatican.

Dr. Lalith Samarakoon, Finance Department, Opus College of Business, is the author of Debt Securities: Markets, Instruments, and Analysis, published by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka. It provides the theory and practice of government debt securities, corporate debt securities markets, corporate debt instruments, and valuation of bonds, determination of bond yields and credit rating and analysis. The text, his second book published this year, is a required reading for the mandatory capital market certification and licensing programs conducted by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka. It is the only such book written in the context of the capital markets of Sri Lanka.
