Dr. Catherine Marrs Fuchsel, School of Social Work – with her community partner, Centro – is co-author of an article, "Sí, Yo Puedo Curricula: Latinas Examining Domestic Violence and Self," which was accepted in Affilia: Journal of Women and Social Work.
Dr. AnnMarie Thomas, School of Engineering and School of Entrepreneurship, gave the keynote address Sept. 19 at the Open Hardware Summit in Philadelphia. Her talk looked at the topic of active, versus passive, optimism in the Maker and Open Hardware communities.
Dr. Lisa Waldner, Sociology and Criminal Justice Department, College of Arts and Sciences, and the CAS Dean’s Office, presented a paper titled “The US White Power Movement: Populist Tea Party and/or Leaderless Resistance Strategies” with Dr. Betty Dobratz, Iowa State University, at the second annual International Conference on Social Sciences held July 26-28 in Athens, Greece. She also presented “Publishing Research on Race, Class, and Gender in the 21st Century” at the annual meetings of the Society for the Study of Social Problems held Aug. 21-23 in Chicago.
Students from the Chemistry Department, College of Arts and Sciences, presented posters describing their research Aug. 6 at the Summer Undergraduate Research Expo held at the McNamara Alumni Center of the University of Minnesota and sponsored by the Materials Research Science and Engineering Center.
