Already a noted author of legal casebooks and scholarly articles, University of St. Thomas School of Law Professor Greg Sisk made his literary debut in the world of fiction this month with the release of his first novel, "Marital Privilege."
Set in the Twin Cities and centered on protagonist Candace Klein, a law professor at St. Thomas, Marital Privilege tells the story of Klein’s personal struggle during her child’s death and the resulting criminal investigation that ultimately targets her husband. The story offers elements of mystery, episodes of courtroom drama, and an underlying theme of a woman’s struggle to keep faith in the face of tragedy.
Sisk holds an endowed chair at the School of Law and has published three non-fiction law books. He also has published dozens of scholarly articles on civil litigation with the federal government, judicial decision-making, legal ethics, constitutional law and federal courts, with his work being placed in top 10 legal journals and garnering him the annual Law and Society Best Article Prize.
Marital Privilege was published June 1 by North Star Press. A book release party will be held from 4:30-6 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at the School of Law in the fourth-floor faculty lounge. Books will be available for purchase.
