The St. Thomas Young Alumni Council presents its annual Running to Open Doors 5K to support a St. Thomas Opening Doors Capital Campaign priority: scholarships for St. Thomas students. The run/walk begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at the arches on Summit Avenue.
All St. Thomas alumni, students, faculty, staff, friends and community members are invited to enjoy the beautiful USATF-certified course. Participants will head west to Mississippi River Boulevard and then follow the boulevard south to Hartford Avenue, where the course reverses.
Register here or on the Quad. Cost for students is $15. Cost for alumni and others is $25 for preregistration and $30 the day of the race. (Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. on race day.) The fee includes a T-shirt, refreshments, scholarship donation and eligibility for prizes.
The Young Alumni 5k Scholarship benefits a senior every year. Designed as a way to give back to St. Thomas and introduce seniors to the Young Alumni Council, this scholarship is a merit-based award and is given each year to a senior who is in high academic standing and actively involved on campus and in the community.
