School of Law tops Quality of Life rankings for the second year in a row
For the second year in a row, the University of St. Thomas School of Law has been ranked the No. 1 law school in the country for “Best Quality of Life” among students, according to the Princeton Review.
And for the first year, the School of Law also earned a No. 10 ranking nationally in the category of “Professors Rock (Legally Speaking).”
“We have developed a close community where students are supported to achieve their highest aspirations,” said St. Thomas School of Law Dean Thomas Mengler. “We have recruited an outstanding faculty of teacher-scholars who care deeply about their students’ professional growth. It is wonderful to see, through the Princeton Review rankings, that our efforts have been recognized.”
The rankings are found in Princeton Review's 2007 publication of The Best 170 Law Schools and are based on Princeton Review's surveys of students attending the schools profiled in the books and on institutional data it obtained from the schools. The company surveyed 15,000 law school students, asking them to rate their schools on several topics and report on their experiences at them.
The rankings, announced yesterday on Princeton Review’s Web site, can be found here; click on the “Best Quality of Life” and “Professors Rock” categories.
“Qualify of Life,” according to Princeton Review, deals with a school’s sense of community and related factors. The “Professors Rock” category deals with how interesting and accessible the faculty members are.
The two-page profile of the St. Thomas School of Law in The Best 170 Law Schools describes the “… palpable excitement within the campus environment, as the students and faculty work to build a name for the school.” The profile says that despite how young the school is, “… St. Thomas has already assembled an outstanding team of accomplished, accessible and talented faculty.”
Princeton Review lists the top 10 schools in 11 different categories ranging from best academics to best career prospects. In other rankings, Stanford University was ranked No. 1 for “Best Overall Academic Experience,” Northwestern University received top marks for “Best Career Prospects” and Yale was once again the “Toughest to Get Into.”
