Schulze School Entrepreneurs In the News

The Schulze School of Entrepreneurship is widely known as the Twin Cities place to turn ideas into businesses. Many companies that got their start at St. Thomas are bringing new, fresh ideas to the public. In just the last two weeks, here’s what’s being said in the local and national media about our entrepreneurs:

St. Thomas juniors Zachary Quinn and Brian Keller started Love Your Melon last year as part of an assignment in their Entrepreneurship 200 class. They utilize an office in the Entrepreneurship Incubator in Schulze Hall to run their business. After Gov. Dayton and the mayors of Minneapolis and St. Paul declared “Love Your Melon Day” on October 22, 2013, they have taken this non-profit on the road. One of the first stops on their current bus tour was Good Morning America.

The husband and wife team Mike Wuollett '11 M.B.A. and Susie Wuollett '11 M.B.A. started their company at St. Thomas and recently secured a $500,000 investment for their blood-clotting product, ClotIt. They won the Fowler Business Concept Challenge in 2011, raised $125,000 in start-up costs from the university’s Norris Institute and house the company in the Entrepreneurship Incubator. The Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal wrote its second article about the company last week.

Kamal Mohamed '12, LJ Stead and Eric Ploeger '11 have started many successful ventures. Their newest is making healthy living easily accessible. The company, Juice Cold Pressed, is installing fresh-pressed juice vending machines around the Twin Cities. The idea started in an Entrepreneurship class taught by Jay Ebben and Alec Johnson, and the owners plan to install their vending machines around the country. The Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal profiled this unique business.

Joey Nesbitt '12 and Jeff Sevaldson '11, dreamt up their business in their dorm room. Drumlite lit up the stage at the Super Bowl’s halftime show Sunday night.  The company’s product now shares the stage with some of the biggest music acts around. WCCO spoke with the men last week.

College Nannies and Tutors, founded by Joe Keely '03, was featured on WCCO in a piece about childcare during snow days.

The Schulze School of Entrepreneurship is giving all students at St. Thomas inspiration during this first week of class.
