“Securing the D&I (Diversity and Inclusion) Future: Evolving Strategies, Meaningful Outcomes” is the theme of the 22nd annual Multicultural Forum on Workplace Diversity, a two-day national training conference that will be held March 17 and 18, 2010, at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
Presented by the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas in partnership with the Twin Cities chapter of the National Black MBA Association, the forum receives support from more than 50 firms and organizations.
This marks the first year the forum is being held in Minneapolis.
Craig Herkert, the CEO of SuperValu, Dr. Tassu Shervani, the Marilyn and Leo Corrigan Endowed Professor of Marketing at the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University, and Candi Castleberry-Singleton, the chief diversity and inclusion officer at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, will deliver keynote presentations.
The forum is designed for professionals who manage a diverse workforce or are responsible for diversity within organizations of all sizes. It also is recommended for anyone working with a multicultural clientele.
The first day of the forum features 10 professional-development institutes that provide in-depth information on fostering workplace diversity and 36 workshops.
The second day features 27 workshops, networking opportunities for the estimated 1,200 attendees from Minnesota and around the United States, and a resource fair with more than 100 exhibitors. A virtual career fair associated with the conference runs the entire month of March.
The forum began in 1988 as a two-hour video conference and has grown into the region’s leading conference for advancing diversity in the workplace. In addition to the forum’s professional staff, more than 50 volunteers assisted with planning workshops, and more than 80 volunteers will help staff the conference.
