Solemn vespers service to be held Nov. 2

The University of St. Thomas will continue a centuries-old tradition of the Catholic Church with a solemn vespers service at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, in the Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas on the St. Paul campus. A reception and refreshments will follow immediately in the Rogge-Leyden Room, Murray-Herrick Campus Center. Father Dennis Dease will preside at vespers; Monsignor James Habiger will assist at vespers and attend the reception.

The public is welcome.

The vespers are in celebration of All Soul’s Day to remember the dead and celebrate the communion of saints.

Music will be provided by the university’s Women’s Choir, organist and cantor.  Prayer cards will be distributed at the service and those present will be invited to sign a book of remembrance in honor of the deceased members of the St. Thomas community -- students, faculty, staff, alumni and benefactors, their family members and friends.
