Students who want to live on campus next year must complete online application by Feb. 21

From Residence Life

Any student who wants to live anywhere on campus next year must complete an online application by Wednesday, Feb. 21.

The online application is available on the Residence Life Online Housing site, starting today through Wednesday, Feb. 21. Login using your UST username and UST password. Type your UST username in all capital letters and without the "@stthomas.edu" extension; type your case-sensitive UST password as you usually do.

Note these things you should know about the applications:

  • You may complete the online application anytime from now through 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21.
  • Anyone you would like to live with as a roommate needs to complete his or her own application online.
  • Any current UST student is eligible to complete a housing application.
  • Studying abroad in fall 2007?
Students planning to study abroad in fall 2007 also should complete a housing application online. Select the "2008 Spring Only-Returning Students" application period in the drop down box. Residence Life will contact you via UST e-mail in November to confirm your intent to live on campus for spring 2008 and invite you to update your building, meal plan and roommate preferences at that time.

The first 1,500 online applicants will be eligible to participate in the selection process for housing for 2007-2008. Additional applicants will be placed on a returning-student housing waitlist and will be assigned pending available space on campus after new first-year students are assigned. The last day to submit an online application is 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007 .

Here are the 2007-2008 room retention and selection process guidelines:

Room retention

3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, through noon Wednesday, Feb. 28

Students currently living on campus who completed an online application may participate in the online room retention process to reclaim their room or apartment for next year.

  • Students living on 2007-2008 First-Year Experience or First-Year Experience-Weekend Activity floors may not retain their current room (view Special Interest Floor locations on the Student Housing Options Web page).
  • Students who retain their room will be able to pull in roommates to fill their room or apartment during Roommate Pull-In.
  • Students who choose to retain their room will not participate in the Four-Person or Remaining Spaces selection.

Roommate Pull-In

3 p.m. Thursday, March 1, through noon Friday, March 2

Students who retained their current room may pull in roommates to fill all or some of the spaces available in their current room.

  • You will need your roommates' UST ID numbers, UST usernames and meal-plan preferences.
  • If a student retains and pulls in roommate(s) and then cancels housing for 2007-2008, the pulled-in roommates will lose the privilege of living in that apartment.
  • This process is available only to students who retained their current room.
  • Students who retained their room are not required to pull in roommates. Any vacant spaces will be available for any student to select later during Remaining Spaces Selection.

Consolidation

To make available the maximum number of vacant four-person apartments, residents who did not fill all vacancies during Roommate Pull-In will be consolidated with other Morrison or Selby residents.

Residence Life staff will attempt to contact Morrison and Selby residents with vacancies by UST e-mail between Friday, March 2, and Tuesday, March 6, to offer consolidation choices. Options and/or notification are not required for apartment consolidation; consolidated residents may be moved to a different floor or building.

Four-Person Apartment Selection – Morrison and Selby only

    • You are assigned a time based on a lottery system where your name is randomly selected among other students with the same class standing.
  • You must fill all open spaces in the apartment with roommates of your choice to finalize your room selection.
