Telos Project Discussion Today Features Dr. Paul Niskanen, Theology Department

Dr. Paul Niskanen, Theology Department, along with students and other UST faculty will lead today's Telos Project open discussion.

Sponsored by the O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center, the semesterlong series seeks to bring a renewed focus to St. Thomas’ commitment to the pursuit of truth through the integration of knowledge across disciplines.

Meetings take place from noon to 1 p.m. in the O’Shaughnessy Room (108), O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center. Each week a professor from a different department gives a brief presentation on:

  • His or her discipline
  • What attracted him or her to that field
  • Why the larger UST community should care

Today’s meeting will begin with a 15-minute introduction to Niskanen’s discipline and area of expertise, followed by a discussion and conversation among students and faculty. All students are invited to participate in the dialogue.

Niskanen has taught classes in both Catholic studies and theology. His B.A. is in French and religious studies from Seattle University. He received his S.T.N. from the Pontifical University Teresianum in Rome, and later received his Ph.D. in biblical studies from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, Calif. He has been published in topics related to the Old Testament, Catholic biblical interpretation and biblical Hebrew, his areas of expertise.

Cookies and juice will be served.
