The Career Development Center is pleased to announce the launch of TommieCareers, the newest addition to its career-building resources. TommieCareers is a job-posting site exclusive to the St. Thomas community and employers interested in hiring our students and alumni.
Normal searches for job postings can still be done through the Career Development Center website, but advanced search options are exclusive to TommieCareers. It allows job searches to be customized by factors such as keyword, location and academic major, which can both allow students to find the job they are seeking, or show them employment opportunities available for their particular major.
Anyone with a current UST NetID and password already has access to TommieCareers with no need to create a separate profile as it is tied to the university system. Once logged in, applicants may begin searching and submitting applications immediately. Applicants can upload résumés and cover letters from their hard drives, create a résumé and cover letter “on-the-fly” from within the site, or add an introduction note (complete with an online spell check) to the application.
Additional functionality includes the option to save jobs or employers as favorites to refer back to later, customize automatic email notifications of jobs, and the ability to opt-into résumé books for employers to search through. Faculty and staff are encouraged to log in, view postings, and set up their own automated searches just to see what is “out there.”
