Bruce Kramer

University Community Invited to a Celebration Reception Nov. 15 for Dr. Bruce Kramer

A reception for Dr. Bruce Kramer, hosted by the College of Education, Leadership and Counseling and the Office of Academic Affairs, will be held from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in Opus Hall, Rooms 201-202, on the Minneapolis campus. A brief program will begin at 4 p.m.

Kramer joined the faculty of St. Thomas in 1996. From 2003-2006 he served as the chair of the Department of Leadership, Policy and Administration. He became an associate dean under dean Dr. Sue Huber in 2006. Kramer was later appointed interim dean, and became the dean of the college in 2009.

As dean, Kramer moved the group toward a true college identity, emphasizing the importance of relationships and connections in the network of the college and university. He assisted in facilitating a move to house the college's two schools in one building.

Kramer’s strong background in assessment made him an asset in developing the college's assessment model. His innovative leadership and passion for his work resulted in strong, consistent accreditation throughout all of the college’s programs.

Although he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in December 2010, his commitment to his work never waned, from the time of his diagnosis until he took a medical leave last month.

The university community is invited to celebrate this incredible colleague.
