UST to Hold Annual Neighborfest July 29

The University of St. Thomas will host its annual community celebration, “Neighborfest,” from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 29, in on the upper quadrangle – near UST’s residence halls – on the campus in St. Paul.

The free event, which first was held in 1981, has attracted hundreds of St. Thomas neighbors, friends and their families to the campus each year for music, food and fun.

This year’s fest theme is “Neighborhood Reunion,” an old-fashioned backyard picnic. As usual, there will be plenty of free treats for the young and not-so-young: ice cream cups, lemonade, cookies and popcorn. And, for those who’d like to make a dinnertime visit, the grills will be fired up, with bratwurst, burgers and sweet corn available for purchase. Back by popular demand is live music by the group Ticket to Brasil and its bossa nova, Brazilian jazz and samba tunes. Kids always love the petting zoo, face painting and other diversions, too.

In the event of rain, the festivities move indoors to nearby Murray-Herrick Campus Center. For more information, call the UST’s University Relations office, (651) 962-6400.
