Wellness Center Observes Breast Cancer Awareness Month With Pink Ribbons, Information, Cards for Special Women

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In observation of the month, the Wellness Center will be in Murray-Herrick Campus Center atrium from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, with pink ribbons, information about breast cancer, and cards to send to the special women in your life.

Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that starts from cells of the breast. It is found mostly in women, but men can get breast cancer, too. The American Cancer Society reports that about 230,480 women in the United States will be found to have invasive breast cancer in 2011. About 39,520 women are expected to die from the disease this year. Early detection is crucial.
