2008-2009 housing reapplication process to start Feb. 11

2008-2009 housing reapplication process to start Feb. 11

Any student who wants to live anywhere on campus next year must complete an online application by Tuesday, Feb. 19.

The online application will be available from Monday through Tuesday, Feb. 11-19, on the Department of Campus and Residence Life Web page. Login using your UST username and UST password (type your UST username in all capital letters and without the "@stthomas.edu" extension; type your case-sensitive UST password as you usually do).

Remember: The person you have chosen as a roommate must complete his or her own application online. Any current UST student is eligible to complete a housing application.

Are you studying abroad in fall 2008?

Students planning to study abroad in fall 2008 also should complete a housing application online. Select the "2009 Spring Only-Returning Students" application period in the drop down box.

Residence Life will contact you via UST e-mail in November to confirm your intent to live on campus for spring 2009 and invite you to update your building, meal plan and roommate preferences at that time. Do not log in twice and apply for both application periods.

Sophomore Year Experience

Current first-year students: Sophomore Year Experience (SYE) floors are a designated housing option just for you. Available in Dowling Hall, Brady Hall, and 2151 Grand Ave., these communities are designed to meet the needs of second-year students.

SYE provides an established program in each area to connect students with Career Services, Study Abroad, Academic Counseling, Personal Counseling, and to provide various social and co-curricular programming through an RA or AC.

UST housing options

Dowling Hall fifth floor – 38 rooms with 73 women's spaces (35 doubles, 3 singles), lounge newly remodeled in fall 2007 with new furniture and lockable access for women of the floor only. Beds in these spaces were new in fall 2007 and kits for lofting are provided.

Brady Hall seventh floor – 22 rooms with 42 male spaces (20 doubles and 2 singles), lounge newly remodeled in fall 2007 with new furniture. Beds in these spaces were new in fall of 2007 and kits for lofting are provided.

2151 Grand Ave. – Apartment-style living is available for 20 male and 20 females. There are two types of apartments in the building, one-bedroom apartments for two people and two-bedroom apartments for three people. Each unit has a full kitchen, large living room, and ample storage space. The building also will have a lounge on the first floor and laundry in the basement.

Selby and Morrison halls and the Child Development Center Student Residence will fill quickly with sophomores and juniors, so the SYE option is one of the best choices for current first-year students.

International roommate option: Would you like the opportunity to live with a UST student from another country? Two current UST students will be paired with two new international students in Morrison Hall four-person apartments. Current sophomores and juniors who are interested may contact the Residence Life Office, (651) 962-6470, or come to Room 106, Koch Commons, by Tuesday, Feb. 19, for more information.

The first 1,500 online applicants will be eligible to participate in selecting housing for 2008-2009. Additional applicants will be placed on a returning student housing waitlist and will be assigned pending available space on campus after new first-year students are assigned.

More information about all UST housing options can be found on the Residence Life Web page.
