Annual round-table on European Union to include discussion of U.S. and Middle East policies

An annual round-table discussion on the European Union, this year titled "The Middle East, the European Union and the United States: Policies and Possible Consequences," will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, in O’Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium on the St. Paul campus of the University of St. Thomas.

Sponsored by St. Thomas and Alliance Francaise of Minneapolis and St. Paul, the event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.

The round-table will feature a background presentation by Peter Coffey, a professor emeritus at St. Thomas and former holder of the university’s US West Chair in International Management. He is the author of some 30 books on economics and especially on the European Union and European currency.

Also participating in the round-table will be St. Thomas faculty members Dr. Heino Beckmann, finance, and Dr. Daniel Fairchild, economics. Edward Hayward, a partner at the law firm Oppenheimer, Wolff and Donnelly, will moderate the discussion.
