Global summer internships, sponsored by St. Thomas' leading study abroad partners, are now available. The application deadline for summer 2016 is March 15.
Locations are available all across the global with placements in diverse businesses and organizations. The programs offer elective credits and may be applied to a St. Thomas degree. (Students should check with their academic advisers.)
Opportunities include eight-week programs, full-time internships, integration with language courses or internships combined with study abroad.
Here are some of the opportunities available to St. Thomas students:
Building professional workplace skills is essential to finding employment after graduation:
- Recruiting agencies and hiring companies increasingly require students to have real-world experience and an applied understanding of their learning.
- Eighty percent of respondents to a survey conducted by Michigan State University (2014) reported businesses wanted an increase in their staff having international experience,
including cross-cultural skills and knowledge of governments and markets. - Employers report a sojourn abroad is not enough. Students must reflect on skills gained and communicate how their experience serves an employer's needs.
Interested students should contact the Office of Study Abroad for more information on these programs or other available options.
