Lawrence Massa, president and chief executive officer of the Minnesota Hospital Association, will speak Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the next event in the Association for Strategic Planning Fall 2009 Breakfast Series. His topic is “Health Care Reform: The Effect on Minnesota Businesses.”
Registration will begin at 7 a.m. followed by breakfast and the presentation from 7:45 to 9 a.m. in Room 202, Opus Hall, Minneapolis campus.
Massa will examine the rise in health care costs at speeds faster than individuals or employers can afford to pay. This has become a critical economic issue driving the health care reform debate both locally and nationally. Join the discussion on potential impacts of health care reform on Minnesota businesses.
Massa took on his leading role with the Minnesota Hospital Association in October 2008, continuing a 25-year career as a prominent hospital and health care leader in the Upper Midwest. Serving as a policy maker, hospital executive and grassroots advocate, he most recently was chief executive officer of Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, Minn., for almost 15 years. He also served as South Dakota’s secretary of health under Gov. William Janklow.
Massa earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of South Dakota and a master’s of science in business administrative services from Iowa State University.
