Association for Strategic Planning breakfast talk is May 19

Michael Mankins, author and partner with Bain & Company, will give a presentation titled "Decided and Done: How Great Companies Make and Execute Decisions Better (and Faster) Than Everybody Else" (book to be published by Harvard Business School Press, late 2009). This is the next event in the Association for Strategic Planning spring breakfast series.

The event begins with registration at 7 a.m. and breakfast at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, in Room 202, Opus Hall, Minneapolis campus. Mankins will speak from 7:45 to 9 a.m.

He will explain how great decisions don't just happen; they are the byproduct of an effective and efficient organization. The best companies have aspiring goals, clear accountabilities up and down the organization, integrated processes and capable people. All of these elements combine to create a high-performance culture – one with a unique soul committed to winning. This program will describe how executives can create the organizational conditions needed to drive great decisions, execution and results.

Mankins joined Bain & Company in 2007 after 20 years with Marakon Associates. He is a co-author of The Value Imperative (Free Press, 1994) and the forthcoming Decided and Done. Based in San Francisco, he advises business leaders on strategic and organizational initiatives to drive performance and long-term value. He has worked in numerous industries, including: automotive, aerospace, chemicals, diversified manufacturing, petroleum and financial services.
