Public Safety Tags Bikes Parked at Unauthorized Locations

Bicycles rolling across campus should keep on rolling … to a bike rack; bikes are to be parked only at bike racks.

Public Safety has begun attaching notices on bikes parked at unauthorized locations on campus. Starting Monday, Sept. 17, all bikes locked to objects other than bike racks will be removed at the owner’s expense. Bicycle racks are located throughout campus.

Public Safety’s current policy is that bikes which appear to be abandoned at racks will be given a warning tag, and if unclaimed after 10 days will be removed by Public Safety; however, bikes not locked to an official bike rack (including but not limited to trees, railings, sign posts, etc.) are subject to immediate removal.

All property is placed in storage for 90 days and then donated.

For easier means of communicating with bicyclists regarding bike matters or concerns, register your bike for free with Public Safety.

Public Safety closely monitors bike usage on campus to identify areas in need of additional bike racks. Many bike racks have been added over the past few years to accommodate increased bike usage.
