'Iron Jawed Angels' to be shown twice Monday

The Luann Dummer Center for Women and the Women’s Circle will host showings of the film “Iron Jawed Angels” on Monday, Oct. 13.

The center will show the film at 3 p.m. in the Women’s Center, Room 103, O'Shaughnessy Educational Center, and the Women’s Circle will show it at 7 p.m. in the 3M Auditorium of Owens Science Hall.

This is the movie recommended by Eleanor Clift, a contributing editor at Newsweek, who spoke about "Women and Politics" in September on campus.

“Iron Jawed Angels” is the true story of Alice Paul and Lucy Burns, two defiant suffragist women who fought for the passage of the 19th Amendment. The two activists broke from the mainstream women's rights movement and created a more radical wing, daring to push the boundaries to secure women's voting rights in 1920.

Along the way, sacrifices were made: Paul gave up a chance for love, and colleague Inez Mulholland gave up her life.
