Faculty and Staff Asked to Notify President's Office When Contacting Church Leaders

The President’s Office is the University of St. Thomas’ primary representative to Catholic Church leaders including, but not limited to, those of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.

To avoid potential confusion and to ensure coordinated communication, faculty and staff are asked to inform the President’s Office if, in their capacity as representatives of the university, they need to contact one of the church’s leaders. These include all bishops, the moderator of the Curia, the vicar general and regional vicars, and Vatican officials.

After notice is given to the President’s Office, ongoing projects and standing commitments will not require repeated notice. In addition, there is an early notification request and a standard form for requesting participation by local bishops in St. Thomas activities. Invitations to the bishops for the 2016-17 academic year should be issued by March 2016.

To ensure appropriate hospitality is extended, the President’s Office should be informed if a bishop or other church leader will be on campus. The Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity will follow protocols appropriate for seminaries.
