Dr. David Jenkins
Organist Dr. David Jenkins, music director of the St. Paul Seminary School of Divinity of the University of St. Thomas, will present a solo recital at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at the seminary’s St. Mary’s Chapel, 2260 Summit Ave.
The program will feature:
- Tunder: Fantasie on Komm, heiliger Geist, Herre Gott
- Walcha: Chorale Preludes
- Bach: Toccata, Adagio and Fugue in C Major, BWV 564
- La Cour: Three Intermezzi (1974)
- Tournemire: Fantasie from Epiphania Domini, Op. 55.
Located at the far western end of Summit Avenue, the chapel is home to a 22-stop mechanical action instrument built by Fritz Noack of Georgetown, Mass., and installed in 2000.
Jenkins has served as liturgical music director at the seminary since 1991. He also teaches organ and harpsichord for the St. Thomas Music Department, works with undergraduate liturgical music students, and manages the university’s Organ Artist Concert Series in the Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas.
In addition, he is an adjunct instructor in keyboard and church music at St. John’s University, Collegeville. He earned the D.M.A. and Performer’s Certificate at the Eastman School of Music. His teachers have included Russell Saunders, Grethe Krogh, Delbert Disselhorst, Garth Peacock and Howard Don Small.
