Delta Sigma Pi Welcomes 12 Spring Pledges

A total of 12 students are in the Delta Sigma Pi spring pledge class of 2011. The pledges are: Jake Saffrin, Haley Parrin, Bernardo Bandeira, Lucas Werner, Sarah Dahl, Lauren Valente, Tommy Tjornhom, Rachel Vold, Lesley Salz, Alex Carpenter, Michael Collins and Eyo Ekpo.

The pledge class began with a team-building retreat last month at Camp Ihduhapi in Loretto, Minn. It meets weekly to learn more about what it means to be a brother in Delta Sigma Pi and to plan social and professional events. Each week, pledges are quizzed on their knowledge of Delta Sigma Pi’s history and purpose, hold interviews with current brothers, fundraise and attend community service events.

The spring pledge class hopes to gain certain attributes throughout the process of pledging, some of which include professionalism as well as time management, organization and public speaking skills.

By the end of the pledging process, the pledge class hopes to grow as a team and achieve the following goals:

  • To have all 12 of the pledges initiated.
  • To fundraise enough money to cover both dues and event expenses.
  • To form long-lasting casual and professional relationships with fellow pledges and the current brothers of Delta Sigma Pi.
