IRT will collect donations of new socks and mittens through Dec. 13 through its "Joy of Sox" drive for the homeless.
Most of us don’t think twice about the clean socks we put on each morning. But to someone who is faced with walking all day, sleeping with his or her shoes on, and with no means of regular hygiene, new socks are a blessing. When asked what they would like most, many homeless people request socks.
White athletic socks are preferred. A simple purchase of new socks and/or mittens can help someone in need keep warm and dry during our cold winter months.
All donated items will benefit the Dorothy Day Center and the Family Service Center of Catholic Charities.
Collection containers are located in:
- Aquinas Hall, LL011
- O’Shaughnessy Educational Center, LL08
- O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library by the Circulation Desk
- Scholars counter on the second floor of Opus Hall, Minneapolis campus
