Dr. Sameer Kumar, Qwest Endowed Chair in Global Communications and Technology Management and professor in the Operations and Supply Chain Management Department, has been awarded the 2010 Goodeve Medal in recognition of the most outstanding contribution to the philosophy, theory or practice of Operational Research published in the Journal of the OR Society (JORS) or OR Insight (ORI) within the preceding year.
The paper, "Effects of product postponement on the distribution network: a case study," co-authored by D.A. Nottestad and E.E. Murphy of 3M, was published in JORS and will be recognized at a ceremony in London, U.K., on November 25.
