East African conflict mediator, John Katunga, to speak Thursday

John Katunga, Catholic Relief Services regional technical adviser for peace building and justice in the East Africa region, based in Nairobi, Kenya, will speak at the University of St. Thomas on Thursday, Oct. 16.

His talk, " Peacebuilding in Africa: Kenya and Beyond," will begin at 5 p.m. in Room 155, Murray-Herrick Campus Center.

A native of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Katunga is an expert mediator of conflicts and has helped resolve issues in many African countries. He will speak about the Catholic Church's involvement in peace building and discuss the challenges, using the recent post-election violence in Kenya as an example.
