Epidemiology: It's everywhere!
Epidemiology 400, CRN # 21387, is offered from 8 to 9:40 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays this spring through the Department of Health and Human Performance at the University of St. Thomas. It's a fun, provocative and challenging course that will change the way you look at health, health care and disease around you. It is not a course heavy on calculations.
What's epidemiology? It studies how diseases, health and health-related events are spread through populations and people. Epidemiology tackles topics such as flu shots, AIDS prevention, bioterrorism, what happened to mad cow disease and bird flu, and the obesity epidemic. Really, epidemiology is everywhere.
Who should know about that? Most people are interested in these things, especially those who work in community settings. This course is perfect for teachers, social workers, nurses-to-be, health educators, doctors-to-be, public health practitioners and others with an interest in social science and health.
