Faculty Development Presents Fabulous Fridays Series; Initial Session is Friday

Faculty Development will offer a new series this semester geared toward post-tenure faculty – Fabulous Fridays. This wine-and-cheese series will showcase various research, teaching and service opportunities that might offer faculty some new ideas or help them connect with programs of interest.

Short presentations by representatives of the programs, with questions afterward, will be followed by time for socializing. The series will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the Fireside Room, Murray-Herrick Campus Center, on the third Friday of each month, with the exception of December, January and May.

Among the topics suggested by post-tenure faculty are these for this fall:

  • Sept. 17: Supporting Faculty Scholarship: Faculty Development Grants; the new Faculty Writers Program; and writing groups on campus
  • Oct. 15: International Opportunities: teaching abroad; IE Travel Grants; and CIEE seminars
  • Nov. 19: Expanding Your Teaching Horizons: Writing Across the Curriculum; Honors Seminars; and Service Learning

Topics for the spring will be announced later, but look for post-tenure Faculty Development workshops and retreats on sabbatical preparation, the Road Toward Professorship, and Redefining Career Goals. To suggest topics, e-mail Pam Nice.

Though geared toward post-tenure faculty, all faculty are welcome to attend Fabulous Fridays; look for bookmarks delivered via campus mail.
