Faculty: Invite a writing consultant to speak to your class
From Dr. Susan Callaway
Center for Writing
The consultants in the Center for Writing are available to visit your classes in the next several weeks. We’ll talk about the importance of writing, thinking about writing as a process, and about how consultants work with students on their reading, their assignments for courses and on their writing. Each visit is brief – no more than five to 10 minutes of your class – and can be arranged to fit most schedules.
Please contact us if you’re interested in such a class visit and provide us with some initial information: your course name and number, the time it meets and its location and when you’d like a consultant to come. Then we’ll arrange for a consultant to contact you to make final arrangements.
The Center for Writing, located in Room 361, John R. Roach Center for the Liberal Arts, provides individual conferences with students on their writing for their courses. We work at any stage of the writing process.
Our hours are:
- 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays
- 9 a.m.-noon Fridays
- 6-9 p.m. Sundays (in O’Shaughnessy-Frey Library Center)
If you assign a substantial paper toward the end of your semester and would like to encourage students to begin their work, or if your students are interested in improving their approaches to their writing in your courses now, we can help.
