Fall Leadership Institute invites program proposals from individuals, student groups

Are you an undergraduate UST student leader interested in presenting at the Fall Leadership Institute? The FLI Committee is requesting program proposals from student leaders at St. Thomas.

The FLI Conference, hosted by Campus and Residence Life, is an opportunity for students in clubs and organizations, student affairs student staff members and students interested in leadership to continue their leadership development. FLI is scheduled for Sunday through Tuesday, Aug. 29-31, on the St. Paul campus.

Presenters are invited to submit proposals that are directly related to the theme “i-LEAD.” The FLI Committee is interested in innovative programs that reflect campuswide initiatives and prepare UST students to work in an increasingly diverse community and world. Program proposals for break-out sessions should include but are not limited to the following topics: submitting requests for services, running a meeting, motivating membership, etc.

Proposals will be evaluated on quality and clarity of content and the relationship of the proposal to the conference theme.

Program proposals should include:

  • The purpose of the session.
  • An outline of goals.
  • The main ideas to be shared.
  • Suggested ways of putting the ideas to use on other campuses.
  • Presentation style (lecture, discussion, audiovisual, etc.).
  • The target audience (new or experienced RAs, advisers, etc.).
  • Ideal number of participants.

The completed proposals should be submitted via e-mail as a Microsoft Word attachment to Proposal Chair Alese Overly, a graduate student employee, by Friday, March 26.

Program proposals may be submitted by individuals or groups. One coordinating presenter should be chosen to submit the proposal in his or her name. All presenters should be listed on the proposal and should have agreed to participate or present prior to the time of submission.

Coordinating presenters will be notified via e-mail when their proposals have been received by the FLI Program Committee; in addition, notification of selected proposals for further review and presentation will be sent via e-mail. Coordinating presenters are responsible for notification of all co-presenters and for presentation of their program before the FLI Program Committee.
