The St. Thomas Music Department will present its Festival Orchestra concert at 8:15 p.m. today, Monday, April 16, in Brady Educational Center auditorium. This is a high-caliber evening of music during which St. Thomas’ best student musicians perform in front of a seasoned, professional 30-piece orchestra.
The program will feature student soloists who were chosen to be included in the Festival Orchestra program through a competitve process – only a small number are accepted each year.
Selections from the program:
- Alexander Gobell, clarinet, will perform “Clarinet Concerto No. 1,” movement I. Allegro, by Carl Maria von Weber.
- Emily Temple, voice, will perform “Batti, Batti, O Bel Masetto” and "Verdrai, Carino" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
- Karina Poyerd, flute, will perform “Concerto for Flute in D, Op. 283,” movement III. Finale: Moderato, by Carl Reinecke.
- Thomas Glass, voice, will perform “Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen,” "Se vuol ballare," and "Fin ch'han dal vino" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
- Minghui Phebe Yeo, piano, will perform “Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 54,” movement I. Allegro affettuoso, by Robert Schumann.
The concert will be conducted by Dr. Matthew George.
