Genocide Intervention Network holds first fall meeting Sept. 21

The UST chapter of the Genocide Intervention Network, a social action group that educates and informs students about genocide, will hold its first fall meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, in Room 126, John R. Roach Center for the Liberal Arts.

The group will discuss the current situation in Darfur and ways to make a difference now. A film about the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, "Ghosts of Rwanda," will be shown.

The Genocide Intervention Network began at Swarthmore College in Philadelphia to educate and inform students about the genocide in Sudan. The network's goals include raising awareness and creating political advocacy for peaceful solutions to global conflicts. Chapters have been organized at colleges and universities throughout the country.
