Help Social Work Students Collect School Supplies for Children in Haiti

Sarah Schwartz and Siryka Hayes, students in the University of St. Thomas-St. Catherine University School of Social Work, are collecting school supplies for children in earthquake-ravaged Haiti.

Their campaign, "Kits for Kids," runs Tuesday, March 16, through Friday, April 9.

You're invited to donate notebooks (wide- or college-ruled, 150-200 sheets; no loose-leaf paper, please), blunt scissors, 30-cm. rulers, pencil sharpeners, unsharpened No. 2 pencils with erasers, erasers (about 2.5 inches long), construction paper in assorted colors, boxes of 16 or 24 crayons; and sturdy cloth bags, approximately 12 by 14 inches, with cloth handles or drawstring closure.

Collection boxes will be located near the main desk in Koch Commons and in the School of Social Work office in the Summit Classroom Building.

Schwartz and Hayes also will accept cash donations and have set up an account for Kits for Kids at TCF Bank.
