Hazelden Foundation CEO Ellen Breyer to address First Friday luncheon Feb. 1
Ellen Breyer, chief executive officer of the Hazelden Foundation, will be the next speaker in the University of St. Thomas Alumni Association’s First Friday Luncheon Series.
The luncheon begins at noon Friday, Feb. 1, at The Depot, 225 Third Ave. S., Minneapolis.
Breyer was named CEO of the foundation in 2002. Founded in 1949, Hazelden has grown into one of the largest, most-respected and best-known private alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers in the world. Thousands of people from all 50 states and 42 foreign countries have turned to Hazelden to recover from addictions. Since taking Hazelden’s helm, Breyer has led new efforts including outreach, expansion into new markets and a comprehensive rebranding. As a result, Hazelden has experienced a financial turnaround allowing it to focus on new forms of treatment. In 2006 she was named has been named Administrator of the Year by the American College of Treatment Administrators.
Before joining Hazelden, Breyer was vice president of business development and marketing for the Ryan Companies U.S. Inc. and head of marketing for the law firm of Leonard, Street and Deinard. She serves on the board of the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers, is vice chair of the board for Freedom From Hunger and is a member of the Minnesota Women’s Economic Roundtable.
On first Fridays of each month during the academic year, the St. Thomas Alumni Association's First Friday Luncheon Series offers lunch and a speaker of current interest. St. Thomas alumni and friends, along with the general public, are invited. Cost of each luncheon and presentation is $25. A limited number of $10 tickets are available to UST students at the St. Thomas Box Office.
Reservations for the Feb. 1 luncheon are due Friday, Jan. 25. Early reservations are recommended as these events fill quickly.
