Health systems reform is topic of Nov. 14 summit

The National Institute of Health Policy invites the UST community to its Midwest States Health Reform Summit from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Depot, 225 S. Third Ave., Minneapolis.

As health care costs continue to climb faster than the economy is growing, and employers shift a greater portion of the responsibility to the consumer, states have taken the lead on policy to improve value and access to health care.

This event will bring leaders in health care, business, community and policy to discuss health systems reform.

Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Secretary Timothy Murphy, from Massachusetts' Executive Office of Health and Human Services, will discuss policy options available to states and states' capacity to be innovative in addressing health care problems.

Ray Scheppach, executive director of the National Governors Association, and Rep. Larry Meuli, Wyoming, chair of the National Conference of State Legislatures Health Committee, will join other national policy leaders to discuss the role of federal state relations and health care policy.
