Help clean up the Mississippi River bank this Saturday

Come join the St. Thomas Green Team in its annual fall cleanup of the banks of the Mississippi River. Join other members of the St. Thomas community from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22. The group will meet at the World War I monument at the intersection of Summit Avenue and Mississippi River Boulevard, rain or shine.

All ages are invited to join the team for a great family outing, a random act of kindness, a community service project, or for the enjoyment of beauty and being outdoors.

Bring gloves, rakes, good shoes and enthusiasm. Bags, gloves, coffee and possibly some food treats will be provided for participants who want them.

The University of St. Thomas, in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, takes responsibility for cleaning the east river bank from the Marshall-Lake Street Bridge down to the Intercity Bridge at Ford Parkway.

Questions about the event may be addressed to Zach Simmons or Tommy Rodengen. The event is co-sponsored by the UST Green Team, Physical Plant, Recycling Team and the Minnesota DNR.
