University of St. Thomas graduate Katie Theisen ’09 has been awarded the NCAA's prestigious Walter Byers Scholarship. The award carries with it a $24,000 postgraduate scholarship.
Since the award was initiated in 1989, she is just the seventh Division III honoree and the second Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletics Conference recipient. The Elko, Minn., native, is a six-time All-American, her cross country and track and field teams won 11 of 12 possible MIAC titles, and she graduated with a 4.0 GPA in biology. Theisen currently is enrolled in medical school at the University of Minnesota.
