Learning for Life, the Alumni Association’s newest program, is an education series co-sponsored by the Alumni Association and an academic department or center that provides personal growth for all stages of life. This year, in partnership with the Selim Center for Learning in Later Years and the Family Studies program, four seminars will be presented from September through April.
The second seminar, “What Happy Women Do: Friendship, Sisterhood, Rituals and Health,” will be presented by Dr. Carol Bruess and Dr. Anna Kudak, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the O’Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium on the St. Paul campus.
Did you know that women who form close bonds and relationships with other women actually live longer and have less illness? These relationships are more powerful than you might think.
So grab your girlfriends, sisters, mothers and all of the women with whom you share strong bonds, and enjoy a night saluting sisterhood and the rituals that sustain us. This will be a great opportunity to engage in a fascinating discussion, featuring the book co-authored by Bruess and Kudak, "What Happy Women Do."
After the session, join the Alumni Association for refreshments and conversation in the lobby of O’Shaughnessy Educational Center.
The session cost is $15. Register online by Nov. 11. Students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend the session free of charge; print, complete and send a registration form to The Selim Center for Lifelong Learning (Mail # LOR309). Forms may be found at www.stthomas.edu/selimcenter.
All are welcome, both alumni and nonalumni of St. Thomas.
