Rebecca Pulju
Dr. Rebecca Pulju ’97, assistant professor of history at Kent State University, will present “The Good Buyer: Women, Consumption, and the Making of Postwar France” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, in the O’Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium at the University of St. Thomas. The talk will be based on her book of a similar title, which was recently published by Cambridge University Press.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
Following her graduation from St. Thomas, Pulju earned her doctorate in history at the University of Iowa with specializations in modern and early modern France, the French Revolution and modern Britain. She is at the forefront of a relatively new area of historical scholarship: consumerism and the growth of consumer-based economies and societies.
Pulju’s visit to St. Thomas is sponsored by the History Department. It is co-sponsored by the Family Studies, International Studies, and Women’s Studies programs, the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and the Opus College of Business.
