Luann Dummer Center for Women to host brown bag discussion with Feminists in Faith group
The Luann Dummer Center for Women will be host to a brown bag discussion with the Feminists in Faith group Thursday, Jan.17.
The stories of Sarah and Hagar in the book of Genesis have been the focus of study in a recent book, Hagar, Sarah, and Their Children: Jewish, Christian, and Muslim Perspectives," edited by Phyllis Trible and Letty Russell.
Dr. Corrine Carvalho, Theology Department and director of the Luann Dummer Center for Women, will summarize her response to Trible's analysis of these texts and lead a discussion of how each of us must grapple with troubling portrayals of women in our sacred texts.
This event, free and open to everyone, will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 103, O'Shaughnessy Educational Center. Bring a lunch; beverages and dessert will be served.
