Mark your calendars for NAFSA 2007 annual conference and expo

From International Programs

As you begin planning your professional development for 2006-2007, we would like to tell you and your staff about an incredible opportunity that is coming to Minneapolis. The NAFSA 2007 Annual Conference and Expo, "Preparing Global Citizens," will be held May 27- June 1, 2007 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

NAFSA: Association of International Educators is a prestigious organization focusing on international education, including study abroad, international students, research and intercultural development.

The NAFSA Annual Conference and Expo is the world's largest event in this field, attracting more than 6,500 international professionals.

The conference will offer you:

  • More than 250 workshops and sessions
  • Unlimited networking opportunities
  • Insights and inspiration from renowned speakers
  • Offerings of more than 300 universities, associations and related companies
  • Your opportunity to learn more and contribute to the University of St. Thomas ' strategic goals in "educating global learners."

We ask that you consider setting aside some funds for you and/or your staff to attend this professional development opportunity. Costs for the conference have not yet been announced; however, the 2006 rate for full conference registration was $535 for non-NAFSA members (partial conference registration is available for less). And just think, you don't need to pay for a hotel or travel expenses because it is only blocks from the Minneapolis campus.

Please let International Education or the Office of International Student Services know if you plan to attend. We will put together a UST-NAFSA group so we can prepare, attend, reflect and apply what we learn from the conference to everything we do on campus.

For more conference information, check out the NAFSA Web site. For past attendees' testimonials, contact your St. Thomas International Programs' colleagues: Sarah Spencer, Deborah Knaust or Rachael Herkenhoff.
