Music Department scholarship, performance auditions are Oct. 4

Music Department scholarship, performance auditions are Oct. 4
From the Department of Music

The Music Department will hold Fall Scholarship and Performance-Level Auditions on Saturday, Oct. 4, in Baumgaertner Auditorium, Brady Educational Center.

A performance-level audition is required for any student seeking acceptance into the Music, Music Education, Music Performance, Music Business or Liturgical Music program. Incoming music majors (freshmen, transfer students and current UST students coming into the music major from a different field) may audition for scholarship assistance and music major status at this time.

Please note: Fall auditions are reserved for current students who have not previously auditioned for scholarship assistance.

The formal audition should consist of 15 minutes of your finest performing. The committee is interested in hearing at least two compositions or movements of contrasting styles and time periods. A UST accompanist will be provided for students unable to bring their own accompanist.

In addition to the performance-level audition, students will complete an interview with selected faculty members, an evaluation of piano skills (for students not currently enrolled in piano skills), an evaluation of vocal skills, and a brief music theory assessment (for students not currently enrolled in the music theory sequence).

The application deadline is Wednesday, Oct. 1.

For application requirements, contact Kara Jannings, music admissions coordinator, (651) 962-8574.
